Bea Alonzo as Betty La Fea

The cast of the ABS-CBN teleserye “I Love Betty La Fea” was revealed in a sneak peek Monday night.

Bea Alonzo, will play the title character, Ruffa Gutierrez will play Betty’s nemesis Daniella, while comedian Vhong Navarro will play her best friend and officemate Nicolas.

Ai-Ai De Las Alas plays Julia, Betty’s mother, Sam Concepcion as Andrew, her brother, and Ronaldo Valdez as Hermes, her father, while Marvin Yap (Bart) and Lloyd Zaragoza (Roman) play her neighbors.

The Eco Moda office will be staffed by Sheryn Regis (Kylie), Meryll Soriano (Rose), Krystel Moreno (Jen), Arlene Tolibas (Cely), CJ Jaravata (Rita), and Sammy Villaresis (Guard), Joem Bascon (Mario), Randolf Stamalacky (Randy), Ronnie Liang (Enrique), Jojo Alejar (Mac) and Thou Reyes (Hugo) while Daniella’s office group will be composed of Wendy Valdez (Patricia) and Megan Young (Marcela). Only one character remains to be known, the role of Armando, the apple of Betty’s eyes.

Piolo Pascual Look-a-Like

Apparently, Piolo Pascual, perhaps the most popular Filipino actor of today, has a fairly close look-a-like. His name is Rico Lazaro.

He played as Piolo Pascual's double in the indie film Chopsuey. Rico Lazaro admits that his resemblance to the actor is his main ticket to showbiz.

Rico Lazaro was also one of the contestants in the first ever Mister Philippines competition which was held at Palacio de Maynila in Roxas Blvd. It was at that event that Rico was "discovered" for his somewhat close resemblance to Piolo.

Jericho Rosales and Anne Curtis in New Movie 'Baler'

With the new team-up with Anne Curtis, along with his other projects, 2008 has to arguably be Jericho Rosales' year.

First it was the international movie and soap projects in the US and Malaysia, and then the Jericho Rosales - Kristine Hermosa love team revival, which ABS-CBN management has now announced will be pursued with a Echo-Tintin MMK episode, teleserye, and pelikula. And if that wasn't enough, Jericho, who was on the verge of going laos, has made an even grander comeback with another major project lined up.

Baler is the movie by Viva Films that will star the new love team of Jericho Rosales and Anne Curtis. Apparently, Viva Films was searching for a suitable leading man to pair Anne with, and they have now officially selected Jericho for the part.

"Originally titled The Siege of Baler from the script of Roy Iglesias to be directed by Mark Meily, this is a fictionalized love story set in a very real historical background during the siege of Baler during the Spanish era ... Anne will play a Spanish girl in love with a Pinoy Katipunero na si Echo."

FINALLY, BEA ALONZO RELEASES HER FIRST-EVER ALBUM!

The long wait is over. After conquering television and being recently tagged as the country’s box-office queen, Bea Alonzo hits the music scene with her first major album under one of the country’s top labels, Star Records!

“Bea Alonzo, The Real Me,” her full-length studio album, marks her entry into an avenue that seems initially unfamiliar to her, but she eventually conquered, with flying colors.

Like what Bea faces with her upcoming teleserye, the much-talked about “Betty La Fea,” she gives her millions of supporters another facet of her, a bit more alternative, but definitely a musicality that is very her. Even her photos in the album will show a different Bea, courtesy of Mark Nicdao, Chechel Joson and Jane Kingsu!

“I’m used to portraying roles that doesn’t reflect my inner personality. It’s the first time that I pour out my heart on this project because it reflects the real me. Included in her album are the songs “I’m Missing You,” “You” by Jim Brickman, “Crazy About You,” “Close To You” (original by Whitfield), “I Will Always Love You” (original by Michael Johnson) and “ “Kagandahan which incidentally, will be the official theme song of Betty La Fea.

Jericho Rosales' Comeback

It is very true Jericho Rosales is back in the spotlight and this may very well be his year based on the number of opportunities being handed over his way.

His recent break-up with Heart Evangelista was the launch of his name back into showbiz headlines. Although it was perhaps the end of a good thing, it seems that there was a very beneficial trade-off with the loss of that relationship. With the number of projects going on for Echo, it seems that he is better off without the extra baggage in order to allow more focus to his career, which was on the brink of becoming totally laos and unrecoverable.

Now, Jericho is finishing up with some of his international commitments, specifically the I Luv U Virus movie with Briana Evigan and the Malaysian filmed soap A Time for US with Carmen Soo. Also happening in Malaysia is the launching of Jericho Cologne by Natasha.

And perhaps to top all of that is the comeback and revival of the Echo-Tin Tin (Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa) love team. A Maaalala Mo Kaya (MMK) episode is in the works and will be filmed this month. Moreover, a movie offer is being made for the katambal, and it looks like it will pull through. A teleserye is also in the talks, but they are waiting for a solid go signal from the producers of ABS-CBN.

Although they are going to try to bring back on-screen the magic and chemistry of yesterday, Jericho maintains that it will be strictly professional and trabaho lang with his friend Kristine Hermosa.

Marian Rivera Overtakes Angel Locsin for FHM 100 Sexiest Lead

Angel Locsin supporters are upset at the sudden drop of their idol in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women rankings. Apparently, Marian Rivera is now at the no. 1 spot and Angel Locsin no. 4.

In fact, a chain e-mail is circulating in the Philippines complaining about the sudden change of rankings and accusing that FHM may have a hand in manipulating the results. FHM, however, denies any manipulation of the votes. FHM also discourages cheating of stars paying off fans to vote incessantly by only allowing 10 text votes and 10 online votes per day per SIM and per user ID.

Apparently, sexy stars and actresses seriously vie for the title. They compete via the number of fan and supporter votes and then attend an annual gathering where more than a hundred of them strut the catwalk and only one gets the privilege of becoming crowned and hailed as the sexiest woman in the Philippines.
